Long County Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS) Board

The Long County Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS) Board works to support the mission of the Georgia Department of Human Services by promoting the well-being of children and families within the community. Board members serve as advocates for local human services programs and provide guidance and support to the local DFCS office.

Individuals interested in being considered for this appointment must complete a Petition for Board Appointment form. Applications may be obtained from the Long County Board of Commissioners Office, located at 468 S. McDonald Street, Ludowici, Georgia, Monday through Thursday, between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., or downloaded from the county website at longcountyga.gov.

The Long County Board of Commissioners is accepting petitions from individuals interested in serving on the following board:

Hinesville Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (HAMPO)
Citizens' Advisory Committee (CAC)/Non-District Appointment

  • Term: Two (2) years from the date of appointment

  • Meeting Schedule: Second Thursday of every other month at 4:00 p.m.

  • Location: Old Courthouse, LCPC Conference Room, Hinesville, Georgia

The Citizens' Advisory Committee (CAC) advises the Policy Committee on matters of public opinion from individual citizens and citizen groups regarding planned changes to the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP), Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP), and related transportation studies and recommendations.

Individuals interested in being considered for this appointment must complete a Petition for Board Appointment form. Forms may be obtained from the Long County Board of Commissioners Office, located at 468 S. McDonald Street, Ludowici, Georgia, Monday through Thursday, between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., or downloaded from the county website at longcountyga.gov.

Board of Elections Appointments

The Long County Board of Commissioners is accepting applications for two appointments to the Long County Board of Elections.

Individuals interested in serving must be residents of Long County and meet all qualifications required by Georgia law. Board members are responsible for overseeing elections and voter registration activities within Long County.

Petition for Board Appointment and Acknowledgement and Attendance Policy Agreements may be obtained from the Long County Board of Commissioners Office located at 468 S. McDonald St., Ludowici, Georgia, during normal business hours or on our website at www.longcountyga.gov. Link to form is provided on the Opportunities page.

Completed forms must be submitted no later than July 31, 2026, by 5:00 PM.

Firefighter

The Long County Fire Department is accepting applications for the position of Full-Time Firefighter.

Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or GED, valid Georgia Class E driver’s license, and possess Firefighter I Certification. Applicants must pass a background check, drug screening, and submit a Motor Vehicle Report for the last 3 years.

McDonald St., Ludowici, GA 31316.

Recreation Maintenance Worker

The Long County Board of Commissioners is accepting applications for a Parks & Recreation Maintenance Worker. Duties include maintaining athletic fields, parks, grounds, buildings, and recreational facilities; operating maintenance equipment; performing minor repairs; and assisting with special events.

Applicants must possess a valid driver's license, obtain a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR), pass a drug screening and background check, and be able to perform physical labor in outdoor conditions. Experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or facility maintenance is preferred.

Salary is based on qualifications and experience.
