Notice of Property Tax Increase

NOTICE OF PROPERTY TAX INCREASE

The Long County Board of Commissioners has tentatively adopted a 2025 millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 20.72 percent.

All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearings on the tax increase to be held at the Long County Board of Education Meeting Room, located at 75 W. Academy St., Ludowici, GA 31316.

Public Hearing Dates:

1. Thursday, February 12, 2026 at 9:00 AM – First Public Hearing

2. Thursday, February 12, 2026 at 6:00 PM – Second Public Hearing

3. Thursday, February 19, 2026 at 6:00 PM – Third Public Hearing and Adoption of Millage

This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 18.707 mills, an increase of 3.211 mills. Without this tentative increase, the millage rate will be no more than 15.496 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $100,000.00 is approximately $128.43, and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $200,000.00 is approximately $256.86.
