The Long County Board of Commissioners is accepting petitions from individuals interested in serving on the following board:

Hinesville Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (HAMPO)
Citizens' Advisory Committee (CAC)/Non-District Appointment

• Term: Two (2) years from the date of appointment

• Meeting Schedule: Second Thursday of every other month at 4:00 p.m.

• Location: Old Courthouse, LCPC Conference Room, Hinesville, Georgia

The Citizens' Advisory Committee (CAC) advises the Policy Committee on matters of public opinion from individual citizens and citizen groups regarding planned changes to the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP), Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP), and related transportation studies and recommendations.

Individuals interested in being considered for this appointment must complete a Petition for Board Appointment form. Forms may be obtained from the Long County Board of Commissioners Office, located at 468 S. McDonald Street, Ludowici, Georgia, Monday through Thursday, between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., or downloaded from the county website at longcountyga.gov.

Completed forms must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2026. Applications may be submitted in person or emailed to bsmiley@longcountyga.gov.

Firefighter

The Long County Fire Department is accepting applications for the position of Full-Time Firefighter.

Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or GED, valid Georgia Class E driver’s license, and possess Firefighter I Certification. Applicants must pass a background check, drug screening, and submit a Motor Vehicle Report for the last 3 years.

The Long County Elections Office is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented individual for a Seasonal Election Clerk position. This temporary position will assist the Elections Office with clerical and administrative duties related to upcoming elections.

• Assist voters in person and by telephone in a courteous and professional manner

• Perform data entry and maintain accurate voter and election records

• Assist with voter registration and election-related paperwork

• Organize, file, scan, and prepare documents

• Prepare election materials and supplies

• Provide support before, during, and after elections

• Maintain confidentiality and follow all election procedures and applicable laws

• Perform other election-related duties as assigned
